STOP PRESS! VISCOUNT MONCKTON TO LECTURE IN NEW ZEALAND

Posted 1 August 2011

Internationally noted authority on climate change issues, Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, currently on a lecture tour of Australia, is to make a short visit to New Zealand, speaking in Auckland, Wellington and Whangarei, as well as on radio and TV programmes.

The first public event will be a discussion between Lord Monckton and distinguished Auckland academic, Dr Geoff Austin, Professor of Geophysics, University of Auckland, this coming Thurdsday. (Lord Monckton can be heard also in conversation with top radio host Leighton Smiith on NewstalkZB, Thursday morning 10 to 11.30 a.m.)

FAMOUS CLIMATE SKEPTIC, VISCOUNT MONCKTON AND AUCKLAND PROFESSOR

TO DISCUSS GLOBAL WARMING

Aucklanders interested to learn about the pro’s and cons of claims of man-made global warming will have an opportunity this Thursday just over the bridge to hear a fascinating and informative discussion between internationally famous climate skeptic, Viscount Christopher Monckton, and Professor Geoff Austin (Professor of Geophysics, University of Auckland).

Lord Monckton – a hereditary British peer, journalist, businessman and entertaining public speaker - says:

* Global temperature change is well within natural historical cycles.
* The so called spate of extreme weather is a myth: There were more
cyclones in the 1800s than today.
* Consensus (of the International Panel on Climate Change scientists)
does not make climate change true.
* If you choose your time-frame carefully you can make any trend look as
if it is increasing or decreasing.
* Al Gore's movie An Inconvenient Truth is riddled with inconvenient errors.

Prof Austin will put to Lord Monckton some of the arguments that there
is a human component to warming.

This presentation will be a case study reminder of the duty of professional communicators to be skeptical and investigate the facts behind what they are being asked to communicate.

Event date: Thursday 4 August 5.30 - 7.15pm

Parking: Ample metered parking is available nearby

Venue: Lecture Theatre AF115, AUT Akoranga Campus on Auckland's North
Shore (see Google Map)
Cost: $20; students and children $5, payable at the door.
