SEVEN SCIENTISTS REBUFF 375 SIGNATORIES TO OPEN LETTER CLAIMING MAN-MADE GLOBAL WARMING

Posted 27 September 2016

Seven scientists have delivered a stunning rebuff to 375 US signatories to an open letter claiming we humans have caused "global warming." The seven say: "The activists say we are warming the lower atmosphere. Yet on all datasets, the atmosphere is warming at less than half the rate originally predicted by their fellow-activists at the error-prone Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change...The activists say the oceans are 'acidifying.' The truth is that, aside from a few transects and a few local studies, science has no idea whether or at what rate the oceans are 'acidifying.' What is known, however, is that oceans are not acid (as rainwater is): they are pronouncedly alkaline. It is also known that, under anything like modern conditions, they are so powerfully buffred that alkaline they must remain"

50-YEAR STUDY FINDS LOW-LYING DIEGO GARCIA ISLAND IN STATE OF EQUILIBRIUM

Posted 27 September 2016

A new and important study on sea levels finds: "the amount of erosion on Diego Garcia over ther last 50 years is almost exactly balanced by the amount of accretion, suggesting the island to be in a state of equilibrium." Commenting on the significance of this finding, authors Purkis et al say their study "constitutes one of the few that have documented island shoreline dynamics at timescales relevant to inform projections of future change." And the information it delivers is a damning indictment of alarmist projections of low-lying demise in response to CO2-induced global warming

MODELLING CLIMATE CHANGE POLICY DECISIONS USING A PROBABILITY TREE TELLS A DIFFERENT STORY

 Posted 23 September 2016

"The scientific community must be able to show with a very high level of confidence, that reducing or ceasing human activity associated with greenhouse gas emissions will reverse global warming. If this is not possible, policymakers should assume that global warming is essentially unstoppable and consider defence measures as the most prudent policy approach." In a post to WattsUpWithThat, MIchael Cochrane writes: "Policy solutions undertaken to deal with AGW [man-made global warming], on the premise that it is dangerous (DAGW), will have massive monetary and non-monetary costs to society. Such high costs demand a correspondingly high degree of certainty regarding the likelihood of possible future scenarios."

CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR'S CLAIM ABOUT EXTREME CLIMATE CHANGE IS "UTTER NONSENSE"

Posted 23 September 2016

Tom Harris of the International Climate Science Coalition writes in a US newspaper: "In his September 8 speech announcing California's new greenhouse emission laws, Governor Jerry Brown said: 'If we don't stop climate change, it's not going to be 110 [degrees] in Imperial County, it's going to be 130, 135! Not for a few days or a few weeks, but for months on end."  Brown's statement is ridiculous, no matter what you believe about the causes of climate change. Even if humanity vanished from the face of the Earth, climate would continue to change. It is as much a part of the natural world as is sunrise or gravity. Brown's assertion that we could be responsible for a warming of 25 degrees is utter nonsense."
