RISE & FALL OF KYOTO PROTOCOL - CLIMATE CHANGE AS A POLITICAL PROCESS

Posted 2 March 2015

"On the grounds of all the elicited preceding information, we may state that the Kyoto Protocol is a failed climate strategy since emissions have neither been reduced absolutely nor relatively. The approach has not been successful with the emissions that are increasing the most - and with respect to the atmosphere, this is exactly pivotal. The atmosphere has no moral sensors, which would distinguish between the so-called luxury emissions and survival emissions".  A scholarly 400-page thesis by Eija-Ritta Korhola, Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki. Ms Korhola, a former Member of the Euopean Parliament, was at the core of EU climate policy-making. This thesis is a long, but essential tool to understand why current climate policies are faiing humanity.
